**While I do not work directly with insurance or insurance companies, you may have access to out of network coverage for therapy services in which your insurance reimburses you for the entire fee or a portion of it the fee for treatment. For that, I can provide you what’s called a superbill that will affirm that you were seen and the charge of the service for reimbursement. Coverage varies and would need to be confirmed to be included in your plan.
*Life Coaching vs. Mental Health Counseling (Therapy)
Life coaching and mental health counseling both involve structured conversations that help people grow, solve problems, and move toward meaningful goals. However, they differ in training, focus, and scope of practice.
Mental health counseling is a licensed healthcare profession. Therapists complete graduate training, supervised clinical experience, and licensing exams, and they follow strict ethical and legal standards. Therapy focuses on understanding and treating psychological distress. Therapists are trained to diagnose and treat mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship difficulties using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Life coaching, by contrast, focuses on personal development and goal achievement. Coaches typically work with people who want support with areas such as career decisions, motivation, productivity, or life transitions rather than clinical mental health concerns.
In simple terms, therapy focuses on improving mental health and addressing psychological challenges, while coaching focuses on helping people move toward specific goals and future plans.
