Oh hey there!

I have always been interested in people. My experience as an undergrad Psychology student and some *intense* work in my own therapy created a desire to become a therapist. This journey has been long and not without its challenges. Was it worth it? Absolutely.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State University and am completing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Kentucky. I currently live in Brooklyn, New York.

While working toward my undergraduate education, I performed clinical research for the University’s Behavioral Science Lab, which studied the relationships between alcohol and domestic violence in LGBTQ+ couples. I studied Positive Psychology abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where we researched what contributes to a healthy, happy life. After graduating, I completed an internship at an intensive outpatient facility that treated substance use disorders with a trauma-focused approach. The practicum and internship requirements for my Master in Counseling were completed at a boutique private practice in Philadelphia that exposed me to a variety of clients facing different challenges. Some of these included substance use disorder, dissociative identity disorder, traumatic stress disorders, borderline personality disorder, and sexual dysfunction disorders, to name a few.

In session, I tend to utilize a blend of Rogerian, psychodynamic, and existential approaches. I am also a huge fan of parts work, or internal family systems (IFS). It is important to me to create a space where you feel understood, encouraged, and challenged. Practicing empathetic listening and unconditional positive regard allows me to foster a feeling of genuine acceptance in which you feel permission to freely express yourself without fear of judgment. I have a particular interest in kink-affirming therapy.

I created boy meets therapy because I believe individuals have the right to hear honest conversations between clinicians about the tools and work that they do.

I do not hold with those that cannot recognize the capacity for human growth. Those with questionable pasts are welcome here.
